What makes it 72% Kids-Friendly: Children enter free and the light-and-sound intro, statue-matching quiz, and garden break give them focus, yet strict silence, fragile art, and no play zone mean parents must supervise closely.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Enough time to watch the show, hunt the bronze figures, explore chapels, and take breaks.
Multimedia light & sound show:
Watch a 10-minute presentation on Emperor Maximilian I before entering the church.
Tip: Arrive 10 minutes early to grab front seats; it’s free with adult ticket.
Bronze-figure scavenger hunt:
Let kids find and count the 28 bronze warrior statues around the cenotaph.
Tip: Print a simple checklist: e.g. “Which statue holds a sword?” to keep them engaged.
Silver Chapel discovery:
Explore the side chapel’s ornate silver altar and Archduke Ferdinand’s tomb.
Tip: Encourage children to spot elephant-tusk inlays and describe what they see.
Break in the cloister garden:
Relax in the quiet courtyard with benches and Renaissance arches.
Tip: Pack small snacks and let kids stretch their legs between indoor visits.

The entry costs 9 eur per adult but we found it worthwhile. The church is filled with human size metal sculptures made with incredible artistry. Between them is a mosuleum surrounded by marbel plates carved with tiny details.. Amazing artwork allaround.

It is pretty expensive (8 euros) to go inside the church, but it is free with the Innsbruck card. For the Innsbruck card, you may have to squeeze quite a lot of activities to make it worth though

A beautiful church housing the tomb of emperor Maximillian I. The statues and detailing of the building make this an interesting place to look around for a while. A combination ticket can be purchased to enter the attached museum as well.

Absolutely fantastic church and museum, a definite must see if you are in Innsbruck and have even the smallest interest in history and/or religion. It’s not huge but a very interesting visit.

Amazing church with attached museum that is fascinating. The artwork and artifacts are amazing. Tickets are not expensive for what you get to see. I recommend doing the museum first and then the church.
The church interior stays cool year-round—dress in layers. In summer, visit right at opening to avoid tour-group crowds. In winter, check organ concert dates for a special evening outing.
