How Baby-Friendly is Sydney Zoo?

Parents with infants get free entry for under-2s, hireable strollers, level paths, and parents’ rooms with change tables, though no animal encounters suit babies so engagement time is shorter.

Considerations for visiting Sydney Zoo (with baby)

Positives:

  • Free Entry for Baby: Children under 2 enter free—no ticket needed at the gate.
  • Complimentary Parking: Onsite parking is free but fills quickly on weekends.

Challenges:

  • Long Distances: Zoo covers large area—use a sturdy stroller to handle all pathways.
  • Peak-Time Crowds: Weekends and school holidays bring queues at popular exhibits and the café.

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Suitable for exploring key habitats at a relaxed pace with a baby.

I had a wonderful time and achieved my goal of seeing a real kangaroo and koala. My vacation was centered around this and I am so happy. I also got to see a lot more animals as well. I enjoyed myself from beginning to the end and highly recommend. You will not be disappointed as you can get close enough to have a unique experience. For a greater value, you could buy a combo ticket which includes t...

Good zoo! The outdoor exhibits were really good, with big enclosures. However, I found the aquarium part of the zoo to be rather average and had a weird smell. Overall, I believe this is a good zoo, but small. Personally, I wouldn't pay $45 to enter due to its small size, but if you can get a discount, it would make it worthwhile.

Sydney Zoo exceeded our expectations! The variety of animals was fantastic — we saw elephants, lions, crocodiles, and hyenas, all looking healthy and active. Some of the highlights were the capybaras, Tasmanian devils, and wombats, which were fascinating to watch. We were lucky to visit around lunchtime when many animals were particularly active. It's a great destination for families with kids. A...

Finally attended the GLOW show for my sons 10th and he had a blast! The ride tickets were a little expensive but short and sweet to attend. Plenty of parking and suitable for young families. Definitely would go again but this time buy more ride tickets!!
