What makes it 82% Couple-Friendly: Quiet mangrove channels, sunset boardwalks and picnic spots create a romantic atmosphere, yet the absence of on-site restaurants and evening lighting reduces convenience for date plans.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for couple trip: Allows time to paddle a section of the canoe trail and enjoy a picnic on Chambers Island without rushing
Canoe paddle on Maroochy River:
Paddle a 4–5 km section from Lake Dunethin to the Mangrove Islands through quiet backwater channels.
Tip: Book half-day kayak or canoe hire (~AUD 40 per person) in advance at Bradman Avenue or Cotton Tree
Walk the wetlands boardwalk:
Follow the 900 m timber boardwalk through melaleuca forest and mangroves to the riverbank.
Tip: Visit at dawn or dusk to spot fiddler crabs and waterbirds; benches are available every 200 m
Picnic on Chambers Island:
Cross the footbridge to this secluded island with gas BBQs, picnic tables and shade.
Tip: Bring your own food and a blanket; check tide times if planning to paddle over
Sunset stroll on Cotton Tree Esplanade:
Walk the flat 2 km path along the river from Chambers Island toward Maroochydore Beach.
Tip: Start near sunset for ocean and river views; stop at cafés en route for coffee

No shops on site for those who are wondering but they are only...

The entrance is a "blink and you'll miss it" scenario and required a u turn and (main)road-side parking (there is no car park). I'm not surprised a previous reviewer men...

Twin Waters and Maroochy River Conservation Park is a beautiful spot for the whole family.. 1:30h drive from Brisbane, kangaroos and birds galore a beautiful part of SEQ
Plan visits before midday in summer to avoid afternoon storms and bring insect repellent during warmer months.
