What makes it 74% Solo-Friendly: Centaur Park suits solo visitors who want peaceful ocean views, memorial history, and free barbecues; lack of crowds and benches aid reflection, but no on-site toilets or shade lowers comfort.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for solo trip: Allows quiet time for reading, birdwatching and exploring rock pools without rush
Journaling at the picnic tables:
Bring a notebook and find a grassy spot or table overlooking the ocean
Tip: Arrive early to claim a seat with a view and enjoy the sea breeze
Birdwatching along the headland:
Scan for oystercatchers, cormorants and silver gulls near the shore
Tip: Bring binoculars and move slowly to avoid startling the birds
Rock-pool exploration:
Wade into shallow pools below the headland at low tide to spot small fish and crabs
Tip: Check tide charts before you go and wear sturdy water shoes
Reflection at the Centaur memorial:
Read the plaques at the cenotaph and learn about the hospital ship’s history
Tip: Visit during quieter hours to spend uninterrupted time in contemplation

As part of the coastal walkway it is a nice place to stop if you have a packed lunch or need to have a break with a view. There isn’t a playground or toilets here but there is picnic tables and barbecues. With views of Bribie Island and Stradbroke Island it is definitely worth a visit on a nice clear day. Only downside is there isn’t a great deal of shade.

A beautiful place to experience the calm of the sea breeze and the endless ocean with mystical views. Part of the Sunshine Coasts coastal walk. Toilets are found at Kings Beach. Parking is next to the park and along the coastal path.

A lovely little around on the boardwalk pathway and memorial walk around Kings beach. A beautiful tribute to our fallen and a great spot for really seeing the beautiful country we have and they fought for. 🙏

The tables were in good condition, the hotplates were very clean and the barbeque started ...
In summer, visit early or late to avoid heat under limited shade. In winter, calmer seas make rock-pool dips easier. Spring brings more migratory seabirds.
