What makes it 83% Solo-Friendly: The free, shallow 2–5 m snorkel trail lets a solo visitor explore the wreck and shoot photos at their own pace, but no lifeguards are present so strong swimming skill and caution are required.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for solo trip: Gives time to snorkel the wreck trail, walk the maritime path and rinse off without rushing
Self-guided snorkeling:
Swim from the wooden stairs on Socrates Parade to the Omeo wreck, then follow the 200 m underwater art trail
Tip: Arrive before 9 am for calm, clear water; rent gear nearby on Socrates Parade
Underwater photography & freediving:
Use depths of 2–7 m around the wreck to practice breath-hold and capture marine life
Tip: Secure your GoPro to a wrist strap and check tide times for best light
Maritime heritage walk:
Follow the breakwater esplanade to view interpretive signs, anchors and wreck relics above water
Tip: Wear non-slip shoes and start from the car park at Socrates Parade

Great location for snorkeling and swimming. The shower they have set up there is quite painful & poorly designed, you will hear my sister cursing the creator in the video I've shared. At this current date they have built some brand new toilet facilities but they're out of order. To access the water and swim around the wreck you need to go downstairs so keep that in mind. There is a drink fountain ...

Was a great family thing to do snorkelling over and around the wreck. Got to see lots of fish but many were the same species. Also swam out to the slide which the grandchildren really enjoyed. Outdoor showers to wash off and a lovely area for a picnic on the grass. Would recommend for everyone.

Fun spot to snorkel to see the shipwreck and all the marine life inhabiting there. Accessible from the stairs or a walk/swim from the beach.

But if you are good at diving 🤿 or snorkeling 🤿 you will get a great view underwater. You too have a lot of things to explore underwater. There is a ramp created over the rock 🪨 direct from the walkway to the sea 🌊 which I felt is an awesome super cool experience The sunset v...
