Considerations for visiting Phillip Island (with kids)

Positives:

  • Family Facilities: Playgrounds, pram paths and baby-change rooms are available at major attractions.
  • Safe Animal Encounters: Designated viewing platforms let kids meet wildlife up close and safely.

Challenges:

  • Crowds at Sunset Parade: Seats fill quickly; arrive early or book premium options for clearer views.
  • Driving Required: Public transport is limited; renting a car or joining a tour ensures access.

Recommended visit duration: 1 day

Why 1 day visit duration is ideal for with kids: A full day covers sunset at the Penguin Parade and daytime wildlife activities without rushing.

Went on a road trip with 3 of my Mates and it was honestly a great experience. There are amazing restaurants and not to mention the view around the beaches. The Koalas and wallabies are a great sight around the island.

Nice little town to vacation to, we went to Philip island during the long weekend and was our first time. The weather was a little cloudy and gloomy at the time we were there but would be nice during the summer perhaps. Was a long road trip to get there from Geelong so be prepared for the long drive.
