  • Free beach activities: Beaches and simple snorkeling require little extra cost if you bring your own gear.

Challenges:

  • Limited facilities: No shops or cafes on the islands—bring all food, water and sun protection.
  • Boat schedule dependence: You must match boat departure times; late arrivals may miss the last transfer.

This is such a beautiful park! I am surprised you allow tour groups to feed wildlife in the park though, as noticed here on 2/20 at 2pm. Animals should live in their natural environment at all times, not rely on attracted by fish pellets ....

All of the islands of the Whitsundays are managed to an international standard by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park offices. They are polite and courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. All of the barbecue areas walking trails and information along the way is outstanding and is it a must for anyone who wants to come and see this beautiful part of the world.

The water is so clean, clear and takes 10 min walk with steps (not that’s bad) to see a beautiful ocean view and a bottle tree with two babies string fishes. It was a nice day to visit the Whitsunday Islands.

Just beautiful! We took ferry tour, however I think a flight over this beautiful spot would be worth splurging. Just to see the white sand and the clear blue water. Tips: May was a bit too cold. And make sure to take something for sea sickness. Our ride there was quite choppy. Enjoy the white sand beach where the treasure chest scene of Pirates of the Caribbean movie was filmed.

When is the best time to visit Whitsunday Islands National Park (Great Barrier Reef Area, Australia)?

From June to September, look out for migrating humpback whales. Bring binoculars and listen for calls; many boats slow near pods.
