How Baby-Friendly is Whitsunday Islands National Park?

47%Baby-Friendly
View Map

What makes it 47% Baby-Friendly: A boat day trip with shade and toilets is doable with an infant carried in a front pack; still, there are no change tables, no pram paths, long sun exposure and emergency help is distant.

Reviews4.9/ 5
(from 881 reviews)

Positives:

  • Short Easy Trails: Tracks like the Beach Track are under 1 km and workable with a front baby carrier.
  • Picnic Shelters: Day-use areas have tables with shade roofs—ideal for feeding or changing.
  • Baby-Friendly Cruises: Many boat tours offer onboard toilets and shaded seating for infants.

Challenges:

  • No Changing Tables: Park toilets lack built-in baby change tables; bring a portable mat.
  • Stroller Unfriendly: Sandy and rocky trails make strollers impractical; use a carrier instead.
  • Limited Shade on Trails: Sun exposure can be high; carry sun protection and plan morning visits.
  • Remote Location: Facilities are limited; confirm boat schedules and pack extra supplies.

This is such a beautiful park! I am surprised you allow tour groups to feed wildlife in the park though, as noticed here on 2/20 at 2pm. Animals should live in their natural environment at all times, not rely on attracted by fish pellets ....

All of the islands of the Whitsundays are managed to an international standard by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park offices. They are polite and courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. All of the barbecue areas walking trails and information along the way is outstanding and is it a must for anyone who wants to come and see this beautiful part of the world.

The water is so clean, clear and takes 10 min walk with steps (not that’s bad) to see a beautiful ocean view and a bottle tree with two babies string fishes. It was a nice day to visit the Whitsunday Islands.

Just beautiful! We took ferry tour, however I think a flight over this beautiful spot would be worth splurging. Just to see the white sand and the clear blue water. Tips: May was a bit too cold. And make sure to take something for sea sickness. Our ride there was quite choppy. Enjoy the white sand beach where the treasure chest scene of Pirates of the Caribbean movie was filmed.
