What makes it 54% Baby-Friendly: Babies travel free and ramps, shaded seating and change rooms help carers, yet 90-minute boat ride, no infant snorkel, strong sun and motion risk mean trips suit only prepared parents.
Why 0.5-1 day visit duration is ideal for with baby: Half a day covers pontoon highlights without tiring your baby
Underwater Observatory:
View colorful fish and corals through submerged windows.
Tip: Sit at low windows to point out fish to your baby and keep them shaded
Fish Feeding Presentation:
Watch a marine biologist feed large schools of fish at the platform edge.
Tip: Stand back from the edge with your baby in arms for safe viewing
Semi-Submersible Reef Tour:
Ride a glass-bottom boat that stays partly underwater for clear reef views.
Tip: Choose morning slots for calmer seas and hold baby in shaded seating
Infant Swimming Enclosure:
Splash safely with your baby in a fenced shallow pool beside the pontoon.
Tip: Bring a swim nappy and life-vest if allowed; cover baby with UV swimwear

Absolutely amazing! Water was beautiful and saw sharks at night, on Christmas Eve! Best experience ever, made possible by Reef Encounter Cairns. The photographers from Scubabo also extremely nice! Sunrise photo attached!

For being a commercial site with many large boats, the reef and fish life are spectacular. So many colours, huge parrotfish, wrasse, grouper, giant clams, sea cucumbers, and more. Perfect for a beginner snorkeler or diver. As a marine biologist that has dove a lot of sites, this one is perfect for budding scientists!

It is a fantastic spot for snorkelling and scuba diving. Crystal clear water, beautiful coral and lots of beautiful fish. I really enjoyed it and I recommend it for anyone. I went with Downunder Cruise and Dive from Cairns, Queensland, Australia. They have excellent facilities and great service.
Visit April–November for milder seas and lower rain. Avoid reef time during midday UV peaks by booking morning or late-afternoon sessions.
