Solo travelers can kayak over, snorkel among fish, and hike freely; carrying gear is easy for one adult, but there are no toilets, drinking water, or shade so self-reliance is essential.
Why 1 day visit duration is ideal for solo trip: Allows time for kayaking, snorkeling and beach rest at a relaxed pace.
Self-guided snorkel:
Wade into the shallow western keyhole and snorkel among sergeant fish and reef dwellers.
Tip: Bring your own mask and snorkel to avoid waiting for rentals.
Solo kayak trip:
Rent a single kayak from Surfers Paradise and paddle the 2 km round trip to the island.
Tip: Wear a dry bag for phone and keys, and start at low tide for calm water.
One-hour SUP hire:
Hire a stand-up paddleboard for an hour at Go Vertical for skyline views.
Tip: Book online in advance to secure your slot and avoid weekend sell-outs.
Mid-week SUP & beach yoga:
Join a combined SUP paddle and yoga class on a sandbank near the island.
Tip: Check the class schedule and arrive 15 minutes early to fit your board.

One of my favourite places on the GC. Always a great day there 🔥

A fantastic spot to come and relax away from the crowds . Only accessible by boat. Crystal clear and shallow water great for the kids. Cons: can be overrun by jetskis, which can be dangerous at times. Also can get rough at times with easterly winds .

Awesome place to drop the anchor and come ashore. Not to mention numerous spots for a swim
