How Kids-Friendly is Point Danger?

Grassed area, BBQs and sealed Oceanway let kids run, scooter and spot whales; rock pools add fun. Sheer cliffs, no fence in some spots and no playground at the lookout demand close supervision.

Considerations for visiting Point Danger (with kids)

Positives:

  • Free facilities: Enjoy free BBQs, toilets and picnic shelters.
  • Safe walking paths: Sealed Oceanway path is flat and stroller-friendly.

Challenges:

  • Limited shade: Few shaded spots on headland during midday heat.
  • No on-site baby change: Nearest toilets with baby-change are at Snapper Rocks 250 m away.
  • Slippery rocks: Wet rocks at Snapper pools can be slippery; supervise kids.

Recommended visit duration: 3-4 hours

Why 3-4 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Gives enough time for a picnic, family walk, rock pool play and whale spotting without rushing.

It definitely is one of the most beautiful places in the Gold Coast/ Tweed Heads. It is situated at the border of QLD and NSW and it is just wonderful how you can see both the ocean and the skyline of Gold Coast at the same time. There's a large green space to hang out, too! The only thing to note is that it could get windy so if you go on a day with a mild temperature that would be the most ideal...

Nestled on the border between Queensland and New South Wales, Point Danger is a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates the raw beauty of Australia’s coastline. Steeped in maritime history and offering breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean, this headland is both a natural wonder and a historical landmark. Once notorious for its treacherous waters, the headland served as a key naviga...

Point Danger is a stunning beachside lookout with incredible views of the coastline. The area is beautifully set up with a park, BBQ facilities, and tables, making it perfect for a picnic or a relaxing day out. It’s also a fantastic spot to watch surfers catching waves. Being right on the border of NSW and QLD, the time zone changes added a unique twist to the experience. Highly recommend visitin...
