Thorndon park is a brilliant park great for walking, running, playing and everything else. Great views especially for a city. A few downsides are dogs aren't allowed and the paths near the lake are very dirty with duck feces. Perfect place for a family picnic, lots to keep kids busy, ample parking and accessible for wheel chairs and prams. The park has enough shaded areas for a sunny afternoon and the presence of the water body makes it stand out!
