What makes it 76% Baby-Friendly: Parents with babies get smooth pram paths, shaded grass and calm shallows, plus accessible toilets, yet no listed baby-change table or nursing room requires DIY changing on mats.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows time for play, a picnic, a beach wander and a carousel ride without rushing your baby.
Semaphore South Playground:
Play on the fenced, shaded boat-themed equipment with soft-fall flooring.
Tip: Visit in the morning to use clean equipment and avoid peak heat.
Grass Picnic and BBQ:
Set up on wide lawns with free gas barbecues under shelters.
Tip: Bring a foldable mat and pre-skimmed milk for easy baby feeding.
Gentle Beach Wading:
Walk on soft white sand and paddle in calm, shallow waves.
Tip: Use beachside showers to rinse salt and sand before dressing your baby.
Historic Carousel Ride:
Ride hand-carved horses; carers of infants go free.
Tip: Time your visit just before sunset to catch the end-of-day light show.
Stroller-Friendly Foreshore Walk:
Roll along the wide, paved path to the jetty and back.
Tip: Follow water fountains along the route to refill bottles.

Walked the Esplanade while on holiday here. Easy walking, plenty of cyclists, walkers and runners using the path. Tide was out atvthe beach and still only spring and a week day, but plenty of parking and I expect it would get busy on a nice day

Beautiful beach has in my eyes best in the World. White sand. Best beach walk stretch to Grange. Wheelchair friendly paths sprawled along the way. Shady trees and lawn. The Palais for a coffee break or brunch stop or dinner.

Love this spot — ocean views and old buildings side by side. Cafés and supermarkets are super close, but parking’s packed on sunny weekends.

I love this beach - it's huge and full of character. There is plenty of parking around as well as toilets and children's play area. It's a great beach to take long walks on and explore the creatures in the shallows and on the rocks. Semaphore itself also has lots on offer - especially if you're an ice-cream lover. The photos are from my visit to the Kite Festival two days ago.
Go before 10 AM in summer for shade and fewer crowds. In winter, dress your baby in layers against cool sea breezes.
