What makes it 77% Kids-Friendly: Children can run on lawns, join festival workshops and ride Popeye or paddle boats, yet unfenced water and no playground mean parents must supervise closely and bring own games.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: A 2-3 hour visit lets your family enjoy paddle boats, a river cruise, picnics and lawn play without rushing.
Captain Jolleys Paddle Boats:
Pedal a boat around Torrens Lake with your kids steering.
Tip: Arrive early to secure a 30-minute family boat before peak times.
Popeye River Cruise:
Take a 40–50 minute heritage river cruise with live commentary.
Tip: Book tickets online in advance to guarantee seats for all four of you.
Lawn Play near the Rotunda:
Run, roll and play games on the gentle grassy slopes by the 1882 Rotunda.
Tip: Bring a ball or frisbee and set up near the riverside trees for shade.
Picnic under the Trees:
Use the picnic tables and benches beside the lake for snack or lunch.
Tip: Pack disposable wipes and napkins; tables fill up fast on sunny days.

A lovely area and lovely garden. Was great to wander in it.. the photo of the girl on the tractor helps maintains the gardens and so I asked for a photo of her.

Me and my family went there to watch the fireworks for NYE 2025. And OMG, it was some of the best fireworks I've ever seen. And I think it was safely done, without damaging most of the environment.

It's just a nice place to relax, you can sit in the little shelter when it rains. If you're lucky, you might even find some wildlife approaching you, its really endearing, the animals are fantastic, believe me. A black goose approached me and let me get real close to it. Really a once in a lifetime experience, though i haven't been to any festivals, i can see that they're really fun. Update: I vi...

I come here pretty often but most recently for the lucky dumpling festival. Such a massive park for nature and environment . Great view of the river and it’s an amazing place to have a picnic. Amazing for New Year’s Eve fireworks as well. Great place to take kids to for fun or for a date. Good place to have a walk.
