What makes it 86% Solo-Friendly: The palace offers inexpensive self-guided or audio tours, history-rich rooms, an underground bunker and clear English signage, letting solo visitors roam freely and learn in depth without time pressure.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for solo trip: Gives time to join a walking tour, use an audio guide, explore the tunnels, and relax in the gardens.
Join a free group walking tour:
Meet at the lobby info desk for an English tour that runs every 30–45 minutes.
Tip: Arrive early to secure a spot and ask the guide detailed questions.
Use the self-guided audio tour:
Rent a device in English to dive deeper into each room at your own pace.
Tip: Pick up your audio guide right at the entrance to avoid queues later.
Explore the underground bunker:
Walk through the former presidential bomb shelter below the palace.
Tip: Head downstairs first; it’s cooler and less crowded in the morning.
Stroll the palace gardens:
Relax by the fountain, sketch the colonial architecture, or read on a bench.
Tip: Look for the yellow Huey helicopter and Tank #843 in the courtyard.
Photograph war-era exhibits:
Capture tanks, artillery, and helicopters displayed in the courtyard.
Tip: Visit at sunset for softer light and fewer shadows on the metal surfaces.

Visiting Independence Palace in Ho Chi Minh City was an eye-opening experience. This iconic site stands as a symbol of Vietnam’s journey through war, resilience, and unification. The palace itself is beautifully maintained — a perfect blend of 1960s architecture and historical significance. Walking through the meeting rooms, war command centers, and underground bunkers gives a vivid picture of ho...

Excellent tourist experience. The electric car tour gave an overview of the exterior ground and history lessons of the palace ground. Price at 105,000Đ Once inside the side entrance, a guided tour is an extra package for group of 1-15 at 350,000Đ. Even if the group is one person, they charge the same price The basement provided the most unknown and surprise of me.

Was alright, the palace is nicely preserved but dont expect anything "wow"! Its important part of VN history so its good to see. Just be prepared there is no aircon so its quite warm and humid there.

Visiting the Independence Palace was a fascinating experience. Walking through the historic halls and rooms, I could really imagine about the important events that took place there. Very good place to visit for a couple of hours. Will always be remembered for the tanks bursting through the gates and the helicopter taking staff ect from the roof during the final day of war. There is enough information not to need an audio guide. Lovely to see all the furniture there so you get a good feel as to how the rooms were used. Entrance fee 80k vnd per adult.
Visit December to April when skies are clear and temperatures are mild. From May to October bring a rain jacket and aim for a morning slot to avoid monsoon showers.
