What makes it 81% Kids-Friendly: Children up to twelve can play instruments, pretend on a rock stage, and enjoy sci-fi displays, but loud soundtracks and strobe effects mean parents should supervise closely and bring ear protection.
Why 2-4 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for interactive exhibits, Sound Lab, and a break without rushing younger kids.
Sound Lab Jam Session:
Kids and adults try guitars, drums, keyboards, and DJ turntables in soundproof pods.
Tip: Book a session early; pods fill up by midday. Let kids record a short track.
On Stage Virtual Performance:
Pretend to be rock stars on a virtual stage with crowd noise and guided instrument play.
Tip: Head here after the Sound Lab to keep the energy high. Use built-in prompts to guide kids.
Fantasy: Worlds of Myth & Magic:
See costumes like the Cowardly Lion and Dark Crystal puppets with interactive touch screens.
Tip: Download the MoPOP app for extra facts. Let kids explore screens at their own pace.
Science Fiction & Fantasy Hall of Fame:
Explore family-friendly displays of favorite sci-fi and fantasy icons with video clips.
Tip: Play with touch-tables before crowds arrive. Point out icons kids know.
ifVIwasXI Giant Instrument Sculpture:
Marvel at the towering stack of real musical instruments at the entrance.
Tip: Snap a family photo here. Explain how each instrument tells part of music history.

Museum was super cool. Lots of different genres of pop culture to experience (Fantasy, sci-fi, anime, music, video games, etc). There were some really fun interactive exhibits too (Indie video game and the Sound Lab). I really loved the Sound Lab and playing the instruments. The horror section was awesome as well. A very cool museum right next to the Space Needle. Definitely worth a visit if you'r...

Very good exhibition on Jimmy Hendrix ! Was hoping for more on underground Seattle music from 80’. Great exhibition on horror movies and Science Fiction films. There was an exhibit on Asian comic culture, but I haven’t explored this one . The building itself is very impressive as is collection of the famous musician’s guitars 🎸

We had a blast. We loved all the exhibits, and especially the sound lab! This is a must visit place, for all ages. My favorite was 2nd floor with the sci-fi, fantasy and horror exhibits. The music church was a nice place to rest and soak in the music. In Sept 2025, the Black music exhibit was a special experience.

We had an amazing time at the Museum of Pop Culture. The exhibits are creative, interactive, and really well put together. We especially enjoyed the sections on music history, sci-fi, and the hands-on experiences. The building itself is stunning and adds to the whole atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful, and everything was easy to navigate. It’s definitely a must-visit in Seattle for anyone...
