Why 2–3 hours visit duration is ideal for solo trip: Enough time to explore trails, the lake, and a few activities without feeling rushed.
Jog or Walk the Trails:
Choose from ¼-mile to 1-mile loops around the 9-acre lake and through shaded turf.
Tip: Start at the main lot trailhead and follow map kiosks to pick a loop that fits your pace.
Early-Morning Pond Fishing:
Cast for trout (Nov–Mar) or catfish (Apr–Oct) along the pond bank or dock.
Tip: Bring a Nevada fishing license and light tackle; arrive at dawn when the pond is quiet.
Birdwatching & Nature Photography:
Spot desert songbirds and migratory waterfowl near the Discovery Trail overlooks.
Tip: Bring binoculars and stay silent to catch shy species on the water’s edge.
Disc Golf Practice:
Play or refine throws on the 27-hole course along Eastern Ave.
Tip: Visit midday on weekdays to find fewer players and open tees.
Outdoor Fitness Stations:
Use calisthenic equipment placed along the paved trails.
Tip: Combine station workouts with your jog for a full-body routine.

Went fishing in the lake located near the center of the park. The park was somewhat busy and there were plenty of other people fishing as well, but all keeping a friendly distance. The park is huge, as it has amenities for baseball, sand volleyball, pickleball, and softball. There are also bathrooms throughout the park as well as ample parking.

We have been going to this park for many years and it just gets better and better. The kids use to play on the playground. My husband use to race his R/C boats at the pond. We have had many days and nights of family time here. We love the park.
