I had such a beautiful and memorable stay at the Hamakua Guesthouse. I was drawn to this area as a perfect spot for my birthday and made the perfect choice! Like home away from home. Love the home feeling vs the kind of stressful atmosphere of expensive hotels. Love the surrounding and all the amenities. Close by to some gorgeous waterfalls as well. We didn’t expect as much as we got for the affordable price. Will definitely be going back if we make it back to Hawaii one day.

Dog barked the entire night. Not peaceful at all. Left early. Cabana people do not have access to the main house. The shower and toilet are not separate. Rude organizer who charged my card 3x after reserving through hostelworld which was a nightmare to reverse (should’ve sought accommodations elsewhere), dirty fridge, fake reviews. Super cute. The private waterfall/swimming hole is beautiful even if it's a bit chilly! I stayed in a private room in the guesthouse and it was spacious. The room was clean and airy, and the gals working there were very friendly and helpful. Such a beautiful place.
