Positives:

  • Wildlife sightings: Dolphins and green sea turtles often appear near the bay’s calm edges
  • Easy access: Paved walkways and on-site showers make arriving and departing smooth

Challenges:

  • Winter surf hazards: Strong shore breaks in winter make swimming dangerous for solo visitors
  • No supervision for jumps: Cliff-jumping at Da Rock has no lifeguards; assess conditions before you jump

Beautiful north shore beach. Attention Tourists: Beach angle is steep, not flat, you can tumble down the hill and get washed away. Also the waves are powerful, so no wading in the water, you’ll get sucked out to sea. It’s serious so don’t mess around. But as long as you’re not being a dummy, this is a great beach to hang out.

Great beach – wide and clean, with public restrooms available. It can get quite busy, but the limited parking keeps the crowds manageable, so there’s still plenty of space to relax. There’s also a rock ledge for cliff jumping — definitely for the brave ones! You can meet here seals.

We’ve been spending time on the west side of Oʻahu and decided to take a day trip up to Waimea Bay Beach Park, and I’m so glad we did! I’ve seen photos and videos of this place for years, but being there in person is a completely different experience. My favorite beach from my trip to Oahu! The waves are great, the water gets deep quickly, and the rocks make for some fun jumps. Highly recommend! However I went between 5pm-8pm and it is true that parking is always full.
