What makes it 65% Kids-Friendly: Children 2–12 are welcome with paid seat and child headsets and love spotting volcanoes and waterfalls, but loud cabin noise, weight rules, and $400+ seats reduce comfort and value.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Helicopter tours last about 50 minutes plus check-in time, fitting within a half-day.
Waterfalls of West Maui and Molokai tour:
Fly over West Maui’s rainforest, waterfall-dotted cliffs, and Molokai’s 88-mile coastline.
Tip: Sit on the left side to spot sea turtles and bring binoculars for waterfalls.
Kohala Coast Adventure:
Enjoy a 50-minute flight above the Kohala Coast, Waipi‘o and Waimanu Valleys, and hidden falls.
Tip: Request side-by-side seating for kids and ask for live commentary to keep them engaged.

Shane Beeder was the BEST pilot and tour guide. He was super knowledgeable about the history of the island and the details of the landscape. Also, we felt so safe the entire time. We flew Nov. 25th at 8am. Tip: pay the extra for the landing at the waterfall…so worth it!! Also, loved the music chosen for our flight. Highly, highly recommend flying with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters!

We took the Big Island Spectacular tour out of Waikoloa Village and had a great time. we were the first to arrive and paid an additional $400 to get front seats. This is an expensive trip, but the front seat was definitely better and the views and pilot were excellent. In the end, my wife and I both felt it was an excellent decision to purchase the trip and front.

My first helicopter ride and it was AMAZING! James, our pilot was a great tour guide. We got at see the volcano erupting gas. The number of waterfalls we saw was phenomenal along the coast. We didn't have the landing at a waterfall and I wish I would have booked that add-on. The ride was smooth and I would do this again.

The highlight of our trip to the Big Island! Highly recommend. We did the Big Island Spectacular on Nov 7 10:30 am, no waterfall landing, first class seats. The ride was so smooth (even my boyfriend who is scared of heights had an awesome time), and the music was hilarious and really set the scene as we flew around. We saw a little bit of lava, a lot of waterfalls, and experienced all the climate...

We absolutely loved the helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian. It was very well managed from beginning to end! Our pilot Shane had a lot of great stories to tell about the island and the scenery was incredible. He made sure that, no matter what seat you were in, you had an incredible view. The cliffside and valleys with the waterfalls are stunning to fly over - you can’t get there any other way, whic...
Book morning flights in spring and summer for calm winds and clear views. Winter months may have more rain clouds over waterfalls.
