What makes it 79% Baby-Friendly: The museum provides nursing room, stroller access, buggy parking and microwaves, so practical needs are met, yet exhibits offer little sensory value for infants and crowds can tire them.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Short visit fits with baby’s routine and covers main highlights.
Gentle gallery strolls:
Push your stroller through wide halls in Fossils & Dinosaurs and Egypt & Sudan.
Tip: Follow the ground-floor loop and pause at the dinosaur skeleton display.
Quiet feeding room:
Private space next to the Egypt & Sudan gallery for nursing or bottle-feeding.
Tip: Ask staff for the key and bring a small toy to keep baby calm.
Main Hall picnic area:
Tables, microwaves and sinks let you warm bottles or baby food.
Tip: Stop here after exploring to feed and change your baby without rush.
Photo with the granite sphinx:
See the Pharaoh Taharqa sphinx in the World Cultures gallery.
Tip: Visit an hour before closing to avoid crowds and capture soft light.
Summer evenings feature extended opening and a 19th-century salon in the atrium. Winter mid-mornings are quieter, so plan a weekday visit.

Go to this museum. I went last week and it was fantastic. There is a lot in the museum and it is well displayed. The Asian culture and history exhibit was really nice to walk around and I especially liked that it tried really hard to tie as much of the Asian history to Manchester and showed how strong the ties are between the two locations. The Egyptian exhibit was also nice although it felt very...

My son and I had a truly wonderful time visiting the Historical Art Exhibition in Manchester. We were both deeply impressed by the richness of the displays and the beauty of the precious artifacts. My 7-year-old son was especially delighted to see so many fascinating and valuable pieces from the past, which sparked his curiosity and excitement. It was such a joyful experience for him before starti...

Manchester Museum is a lovely place to visit, it’s not particularly big, so you can easily see everything in 2–3 hours, which makes it great for families. There are some really interesting pieces to enjoy, and it’s very family friendly overall. What stood out the most for me, however, was their multi-faith area. It was wonderfully clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. Honestly one of the be...

Went yesterday for my little ones first visit to a museum, timed it perfectly for the cat that slept for 1000 years exhibit, was brilliant! Very good if you've got younger children! Egypt exhibit and dinosaurs were good. Only thing I'd say was the bathrooms were the cleanest and the two we went into hand dryers were broken. Overall a good day and alot to see.
