Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh (couple trip)

The Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh was a wonderful base for exploring the city. The lobby is bright and welcoming, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Here a week between Tours. Rooms are small but efficient. Desk service is exceptional. 1802 Resturant is great for breakfast but expensive for other meals. Location can't be beat.

This CY Edinburg experience was terrible, which I discussed with the front desk manager, Caelun, while in Edinburg on the 12th of August. Price was £403/day ($540/day). Nice, calm hotel in a great location. Breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, my room was quite dirty, so I think the housekeeping standards need improvement.

The room was like a dungeon - dark, sad, overlooking a wall. Poorly kept, the shower handle broke while we were there. The elevators didn't work. The whole place had a funny smell. I had asked for a special surprise given it was an important date for us. Was told everything was in order and instead they completely forgot. For the price totally not worth it. Much better options out there.
