Positives:

  • Free baby-friendly facilities: Carer & Child Room and Student Parents Rooms offer feeding, changing and rest spaces at no cost.
  • Flexible touring: Self-guided audio tour lets you pause as needed for naps or feeding.
  • Good Wi-Fi coverage: Campus-wide Visit-Ed network keeps you connected for maps and baby apps.

Challenges:

  • Uneven pathways: Cobbled stones and stairs can make stroller use tricky in parts of the Old Town campus.
  • Limited outdoor seating: Benches are sparse on walking routes, bring a folding seat or picnic blanket.
  • Room access induction: You must complete a short induction and add access to your card before using some baby rooms.

Stayed in University student dormitiry room while attending the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (available on Booking.com). Four nights in a single room (shared bathroom) with breakfast included ran about $125 USD per night. Beautiful campus, clean and comfortable room, plenty of hot water. Highly recommend for solo travelers. Great price for housing during Fringe when prices go sky high.

Positive reviews of this university often focus on its appearance rather than the quality of education or the attitude towards students. If you're considering it, here's a firsthand account. We recommend thinking twice before choosing the University of Edinburgh for your education. My daughter spent two years there studying architecture and was shocked by her experience. Firstly, during her entir...

My daughter is an international student there, and she is having the best time of her life! The school is beautiful and has a rich history. My only complaint is the souvenir store. The service isn’t great at all, and they don’t have a variety of merchandise to buy!

Went to listen the Edinburgh University Chamber Orchestra at the Reid Concert Hall. It was a fantastic experience, beautiful Concert Hall, and an amazing Orchestra formed by Edinburgh University students. I had a wonderful time listening to such a talented young bunch. Pleaseeeeeeeeee keep it going!
