Interesting museum in Edinburgh following the history of surgery from earliest efforts to modern day robotics. A smaller museum, it is broken up into a number of areas with displays of instruments and procedures, historical perspective, and some interactive exhibits. The wife really enjoyed the forensic area and the preserved specimens. My favorite was the robotic surgery machine and the fact t...

Just attended a tribute to The legend of Queen tonight at surgeons hall. It was amazing and Freddy ( Peter Marchand )had me smiling and in tears , he was fantastic with a brilliant band. I would love to return again. Peter is a brilliant showman with fabulous vocals and my husband and l would highly recommend this show to take you back to a great era gone by. I have sent snippets to my friend in M...

I really enjoyed our visit to the Surgeons Hall Museum. The exhibits and information were fascinating and how it connects to the history of Edinburgh even more so. Not every member of our group had the stomach for it - organs in jars is not appealing to everyone. As someone with a science degree, I found every piece fascinating. Our visit was quicker than I would have liked, as it was a hot day...

I enjoyed going through this museum. There are no photos allowed inside which makes sense as some of the items are not for the faint of heart. I did get a bit squeamish seeing some of the specimens. Reading the stories was very interesting and I really appreciate the advances in science thanks to people like the ones showcased here. It didn’t take long to get through, there is a small gift shop an...

We visited after we attended a walking tour of Edinburgh. We spent a good couple of hours here, with 2 teenagers. The number of specimens is almost overwhelming. The digital autopsy set up is amazing and informative No photos allowed inside but thE building and cafe are worth a visit in their own right. Highly recommend.
The museum is all indoors—perfect for Edinburgh’s rain. Summer afternoons get busy; visit right at opening or late afternoon. Midweek winter visits are quieter.
