What makes it 43% Kids-Friendly: With building shut there are no current children’s shows on-site; off-site pantomime and future family matinées help, but kids lose the magic of being in the historic venue today.
This place may be temporarily closed. Please check official sources before visiting.

Always a fab venue so really glad money is being invested into it for an upgrade. I hope they keep the ceiling art! I'd never been to the upper circle before - vertigo! Festival staff were very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to going back next year after the refurb.

Came here to watch the Rocky Horror Picture Show and absolutely loved it! The cast was unbelievably talented and I loved every second. As for the theatre itself, it’s absolutely beautiful. I loved all the details and artistic touches. Cannot wait to visit again!

A backstage look at this early 20th century music hall theatre before its much needed £25 million refurbishment in 2021. The project will reduce seat density, level the raked stage to allow dance performances and replace the 100 year old hydraulic jacks used to raise the floor under the front row seats. Backstage will be redeveloped to meet the expectations of 21st century performers.
Festive pantomimes run in December and January; book early for holiday shows
