Positives:

  • Social opportunities: Guided tours and evening events help you meet other solo visitors.

Challenges:

  • Steep steps: The site has narrow stairways and uneven floors; wear sturdy shoes.
  • Crowds at peak times: Midday weekends can get busy around the Great Bath; expect lines at reception.

Wonderful place to visit. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The museum is accessible, they have lifts throughout making it easy to enjoy. They have a free audio tour which has two options, one more adult orientated "documentary" style audio guides and one more child friendly character based audio tour.

We visited this place in November. Our tickets were for 11:00, and it was already a bit busy, but everything was well organised. The location is absolutely beautiful. The reception and entrance experience was perfect – the ladies at the desk were very kind, explained everything clearly and quickly. I highly recommend the audio guide, it was very good and informative. Inside, everything is very in...

There was just something about walking through and seeing a piece of history and then getting to actually touch history when at the end they have the experience of actually sampling of the bath that was really really cool. The entire museum was very much interactive and very accessible for one of our mem...

Visiting the Roman Baths for the first time was such a fascinating experience. I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much, but it was honestly really impressive. Walking around the site and seeing how well-preserved everything is makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The museum part explains the history clearly and is easy to follow, even if you don’t know much about Roman history. The Grea...

Walking around the Great Bath, with the steam rising from the water, really gives you a sense of what life was like here 2,000 years ago. The museum is well laid out, with fascinating artefacts and clear explanations, and...
