What makes it 77% Kids-Friendly: Family ticket value, child-sized costumes, quill writing and cake make learning fun, yet many stairs, tight rooms and text-heavy panels can frustrate energetic children under about eight.

Jane Austen was a prolific writer whose works on social satire have lived on for years. Her relevance, from movie adaptations to her relateable quotes, goes on to show her excellence. Wonderful, felt like we were transported back in Jane Austen's time and lived the experience.

We visited during a small break and found the experience to be fun, albeit a little shorter than expected, lasting around 60 minutes. Tickets, both on the day and brought in advance, are provided in the shop, which can be problematic when busy. Once through, you wait in a lounge for the next performance. Once ready you enter a small performance room where a cast member playing a character from o...

I had a lovely time at the Centre. Staff is friendly and really get in to the whole spirit of the characters. The visit is very organised and has a nice pace to it, you can go as fast or as slow as you want, to really take eeverything in. I've also booked for the Regency Tearoom and had a lovely traditional tea (Mr Darcy's). The food was delicious, the atmosphere was calm and pleasant.

We started our trip there - what a way to start. My kids surprised me with a trip for my birthday. The host and staff were amazing - they made the experience real. They dressed the part and their subtle ways of talking was refreshing without being cheesy. Thank you for a lovely day.

The Jane Austen Centre is an entertaining and whimsical tribute to Jane Austen's life and work, not to be taken too seriously. The entire experience is made special by the staff, who are incredibly invested in their roles. Each of them adopts a name from Austen's novels. Their prese...
