How Kids-Friendly is The Ancient City?

80%Kids-Friendly
View Map

What makes it 80% Kids-Friendly: Child-size bikes, free dance shows and shaded trams entertain ages 6-12, yet the vast sunny grounds, some steep temple steps and lack of dedicated play or lifeguards demand close adult supervision.

Positives:

  • Stroller-friendly paths: Wide, smooth lanes let you push a stroller across the park.
  • Free transport options: Bicycles and trams are included in admission, easing long walks.
  • Hands-on culture: Costumes, boats, and performances keep kids engaged in Thai heritage.

Challenges:

  • Large area: The park covers over 200 acres—kids may tire without breaks.
  • Strong sun: Shade is limited between replicas; plan rest stops and sun protection.

  • An expansive outdoor cultural park shaped like Thailand that reunites the nation’s architectural heritage
  • Hosts over 100 life-sized and scaled-down replicas of temples, palaces, and historic ruins from across the country
  • Established in the 1960s under the patronage of King Rama IX to preserve Siam’s cultural legacy

What is so special about The Ancient City for with kids?

  1. Family golf cart tours save walking and entertain kids.
  2. Free bikes and trams help rest little legs between stops.
  3. Costume rentals and floating-market snacks add cultural fun.
  4. Morning visits beat heat and crowds for a smoother day.

Recommended visit duration: 3-4 hours

Why 3-4 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Enough time to ride a golf cart, explore key replicas, and rest between stops without rushing young kids.

I definitely recommend it. The scenery is beautiful. We rented golf carts as a group of four friends and enjoyed the trip. Golf carts cost 200 baht and are well worth it (you need a driver license). They provide a tour map, which includes 122 different areas. The tour takes an average of 4-5 hours.

I would recommend visiting ancient city. However, the on-counter ticket price would be higher including transit. And I would suggest to come via BTS train till Keha station. And then take tuk-tuk which only cost 10 Baht, which will drop you very near to ancient city. Unless you are in a group through, this will save you money. For me booking was done on Klook which included combined ticket for An...

It's a very wide and beautiful park. Convenient to roam around since they have golf carts and bikes for rent. The temples may not be the real deal but look breath-taking nonetheless. I enjoyed watching their cultural performance showcasing their dance and Muay Thai. I also want to thank the staff's honesty since I almost lost my phone. I reported it to the reception minutes after I noticed my ph...

Nice place. Fascinating. The park is beautiful and the buildings are very large and super detailed. The ticket price of 7-800 bath is justified considering the cost to build everything. However, some of the main attractions were lacking a bit of maintenance. I remember it was nicer 6 years ago when I last visited. There were also fewer people there this time.
