School-age children learn geology from lit panels and scavenger hunt ideas, but wet uneven path, constant need for handholding, few escape points and closure till Aug 2025 weaken appeal.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: 1-2 hours gives families time to walk the trail at a relaxed pace, complete a fun scavenger hunt, and view key formations without rushing.
Lava Formation Scavenger Hunt:
Use a simple checklist to find pillars, shelves, stalactites, and Turtle Rock along the boardwalk.
Tip: Prepare a printed list and let each child mark off finds to keep them excited.
Spot Turtle Rock:
See the rock formation shaped like a turtle about 200m from the entrance.
Tip: Take photos at the nearby railing; its shape mimics Jeju Island and kids love guessing it.
Marvel at Lava Column:
Observe the 7.6m-high lava pillar lit by cave lights.
Tip: Use the dim lighting for soft photos; hold kids’ hands on the boardwalk railing.
Trace Lava Flow Lines:
Look at the horizontal bands on cave walls showing past lava levels.
Tip: Explain to kids how these lines formed as lava receded for an easy geology lesson.

Can absolutely feel the wonder of nature and immerse yourself in it. Well preserved and easy to reach, the cave is a great place to visit! Though only 1km is opened for public, you can find many different forms of igneous rock here and the whole atmosphere is so good here! (We spent around 1 hour to finish the whole journey and back to the entrance) Apart from the cave, there is an indoor inform...

Worth visiting this lava tube cave. Very interesting. It also has good description all along the way. Can be dark at times, so bring a flash light and have good walking shoes.

It's a beautiful place to walk. Do ensure you have a good pair of walking shoes as the ground is slippery and uneven. You will probably need around 1 hour to walk to the end and back.

The food in the restaurant at the entrance is amazing! The host was very kind. So, we had a great start to our visit. The lava tube is stunning! Not much more to say, but that it is a must see. Walking will be challenging for those who struggle to walk on uneven surfaces - the floor is rough lava flow rock. Would go here to reflect, cool off, or just marvel at the wonder of it. Highly recom...

Interesting Lava Tube. It can be quite cold so wear a light jacket helps. Not a tough journey through the cave, my 6yo walk with a breeze. A bit wet and slippery so a good pair of hiking shoe helps. Enjoy!
