How Solo-Friendly is Black Pork Street?

The short barbecue lane lets a single visitor compare prices, order one pork portion, and leave quickly; picture menus aid independence; smoke and possible 15-minute queues are the only real downsides.

Considerations for visiting Black Pork Street (solo trip)

Positives:

  • Solo-Friendly Counters: Most restaurants have seats for one at the grill counter.
  • Easy Ordering: Picture and English menus help you order without a guide.

Challenges:

  • Smoke on Clothes: Indoor grill smoke can stick to clothes and hair.
  • Evening Crowds: Popular spots fill up quickly after 7pm with long lines.

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for solo trip: Enough time to sample 2-3 restaurants, compare flavors, and enjoy side dishes without rushing.

Definitely a must visit when in Jeju. The street has many samgyupsal restaurants and we tried a couple. There are distinct differences in the restaurants and it’s worth trying a few to enjoy different styles

It's quite an experience to try traditional food just like the K Drama. However, be prepared to pay for high cost. It can be quite expensive for a meal with limited amount of meat.
