The Salisbury (with baby)

This attractive small hotel is nicely located on Madras Street within an easy walk of the Avon and the northern city centre. Our room was quite small but clean and well equipped apart from a fridge. Instead there was a wine cooler, no good for travellers needing to freeze chilly bags. No doubt the hotel could have frozen them if necessary.

Lovely service however rooms do not match description. Beds are very uncomfortable and decor is ‘eclectic’ and outdated. Location is okay. This hotel is a new build made to look historic however looks a bit tacky

We had a lovely stay here before our flight to Auckland, staying in a king room with a spa bath. The chap at reception offered to help with our luggage and explained how the room worked - all the staff were sweethearts. We are used to city hotels so although it was smaller than a number of places we stayed in NZ, that wasn't a surprise. Storage may be an issue if you were staying multiple nights ...

Nice place to stay, short walk to town. Comfortable bedding. Lovely staff, clean, quiet and nice blackout curtains. Parking for guests is easy. Decent priced as we just rocked up.
