Arthur's Court Motor Lodge (solo trip)

Didn't even end up staying - left and found another motel. As soon as we walked into the room, it stunk. Photos on website nothing like rooms, very run down and dirty. Smoke alarm about to fall off ceiling. Windows covered in dirt and handprints, skirting boards covered in filth, floor hadn't been vaccumed. We stayed in the three room family apartment. It was very clean, modern, and well set out, with a TV in each room, and a large and functional bathroom. Super comfortable beds! Close to the city and very reasonably priced, this was the best accommodation on this quick trip around the south island.

Room 11. Absolutely stunk as soon as we walked in , smelt like dirty feet and mould. The single bedroom smelt so disgusting we moved the mattress into the lounge to sleep. The sheets were filthy and stained, pillows were dirty The whole place was dirty, there felt like no clean place to sit. Chairs were ripped and had duck tape on them to cover holes. I try to keep my reviews positive but hard on this occasion. Room 11 was terrible, see photos. Nothing like the pictures on the website, no way a 4 star motel, 1 star maybe. Smelt of mould, noisey, door didnt lock, carpet stained and ripped and duck taped down, doors broken off. $245 for 1 room for a night is not good. Stayed one night for work, rooms are clean and comfortable and beds were firm and nicely dressed. No issues with other neighbours, staff were helpful and polite. Would recommend as all units are on the flat and car parking is available at door. It is also quite close to restaurants etc. would stay again and recommend to others.
