What makes it 61% Baby-Friendly: Pram-friendly gravel paths and short routes suit a stroller outing, but park toilets lack confirmed change tables and there is no sheltered nursing room, so plan feeds and weather carefully.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Enough time for a pram-friendly loop, bird hide visit, and playground break without rushing the baby.
Pram-Friendly Boardwalk Circuit:
Roll a pram along wide gravel tracks and boardwalks around the wetland loop.
Tip: Avoid muddy sections after rain and bring a sunshade for the baby’s pram.
Short Bird Hide Walk:
Follow a 260 m flat gravel path to the bird hide to spot pūkeko, ducks and swans.
Tip: Visit early for active birds and pack easy snacks for a quick rest at the hide.
Clarevale Reserve Playground:
Let toddlers use the fenced playground area with slides and swings just off the loop.
Tip: Park at the Mairehau Road car park for direct access to the playground.
Partial Loop Return:
Turn back at Stout Tower or the playground to limit walking distance for the baby.
Tip: Use this option when the baby needs a break or nap in the pram.

Great walk, a lot of space to also have a run too. This isn't a shared space, so you can't ride bikes or scooters here because of wildlife. Paths seem like they would be ok for wheelchairs & prams, but I would say if it's been raining I would suggest holding off on doing a full loop - half of the paths are just gravel.
