What makes it 72% Baby-Friendly: Wide smooth paths, shade trees and shallow splash water suit prams and crawlers, but toilets lack baby-change benches and there is no dedicated nursing room, so prep is advised.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Allows time for a stroller walk, paddling pool play, picnic and café break with rest breaks for your baby.
Stroller Walk on Sumner Promenade:
Push your stroller along the flat 1.25 km coastal path from Cave Rock to Scarborough Park.
Tip: Start at low tide and use park toilets near the playground for quick nappy changes.
Shaded Picnic under Trees:
Set up a blanket by mature trees near picnic tables.
Tip: Bring a lightweight blanket and snacks; tables are first-come, first-served.
Gentle Splash in the Paddling Pool:
Hold your baby in the shallow, knee-deep pool beneath splash features.
Tip: Check seasonal opening (mid-Nov to late Mar) and always supervise.
First Steps on the Lawn:
Let your baby practice crawling or first steps on the soft grass beside the playground.
Tip: Pick a spot near the playground to keep an eye on older kids.
Café Break at Ocean Café & Bar:
Order coffee or light meals at the seaside café just off the Esplanade.
Tip: Indoor seats offer shelter and privacy for breastfeeding.

Park for kids to hang out. There are a lot of activity play stations available. The place looks clean and tidy. There is a lot of space for running and having a picnic. You do not have to pay to use these facilities.

Stunning place, and Scenery! Lots to do in and around the area. Children's park and splash pool were nice and clean. I would only suggest updating the "family" bathroom by the playground. Had no place to change my baby or to be able to breastfeed.

Awesome playground for bigger kids (3.5+) with big slides and a climbing nest. Paddling pool is great for the little ones. The ground does get very hot on sunny days so do bring shoes. BBQ and grass area is very popular for picnics and group gatherings.
Mid-November to late March: paddling pool open. In winter, skip the pool and enjoy picnic walks. Always pack a windbreaker for coastal breezes.
