What makes it 48% Baby-Friendly: Babies cannot skate; a parent may push a pram on quiet sessions and sit in the heated café, yet missing change tables and nursing rooms limits comfort, so stays should be brief.
Note: Alpine Ice Sports Centre is 48% Baby-Friendly. You may want to consider other Baby-Friendly Things to Do in Christchurch for a more suitable experience.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Enough time to skate slowly, rest and care for your baby without rush.
Prams on Ice Session:
Push your baby in a pram on the rink at no extra charge during public sessions.
Tip: Skate slowly and hold the pram handles firmly for stability.
Café & Lounge Rest Stop:
Relax in the heated café with free Wi-Fi while feeding or changing your baby.
Tip: Ask for a table by the window to watch the ice and keep an eye on your skater.
“Just You & The Ice” Quiet Session:
Enjoy a calm weekday skate with soft music, ideal for pram-pushing.
Tip: Book a Tuesday or Thursday morning slot to avoid crowds and loud noises.

Good venue, a little bit outdated. Great way to escape the heat on a hot day.
Weekday mornings stay quieter year-round. During school holidays, book the private lounge early to avoid busy afternoons.
