What makes it 57% Baby-Friendly: Under-3s enter free and prams fit inside, yet no confirmed nursing room or change bench and dark loud shows can upset infants, so parents must plan breaks and may skip evening events.
Why 2-4 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Enough time to explore the gallery, attend a short daytime show and use the telescope viewing at a relaxed pace.
Explore the Interactive Space Gallery:
Hands-on displays let your baby crawl or sit safely while you explore models of planets and stars.
Tip: Bring a small blanket so baby can play on the floor near exhibits.
Attend a Short Daytime Planetarium Show:
Shows like “Accidental Astronauts” use gentle narration and visuals ideal for very young children.
Tip: Check show suitability for under-3s and arrive early to secure side seating for quick exit if needed.

Amazing Experience at the Stardome! I recently visited the Stardome and had an absolutely amazing experience. The lecturer was not only knowledgeable but also had a great sense of humor, which made the session both educational and entertaining. The supporting video presentation was well-made and pleasant to watch, perfectly complementing the lecture. One of the highlights of the evening was the ...

It's a very interesting and welcoming place. The children enjoyed the visit. However, we opted for the TReX Experience and were disappointed; the children were bored. We'll try the constellations more next time.

Last night we went to Stardrome in Auckland and it was an unforgettable experience! We watched an incredible Queen band show on the big screen , After the show, the staff gave us extra activities, including a chance to use the big telescope to see a star up close. It was such a magical and inspiring moment! This place is also really great for the younger generation. It’s not just entertaining — ...

Admission is $5 for people over 3 years old. We went on a rainy day. It was fun but very small. Without engagement a small child can speed through in under 10 minutes. I think you need to go in the evening and or for a planned movie feature to get the full effect of the planetarium. There is a small gift shop at the entrance.
During school holidays enjoy free water-bottle rocket launches after select daytime shows for extra family fun.
