Stopped in Home Bay momentarily. Unfortunately a south westerly blow up so had to cross the Waiheke Channel to Man O'War Bay and shelter from the wind. Returned the following day to find the resident Takahe with a chick. Took photos of an adult foraging with the young bird.

What a hidden gem, just an hour away from Auckland by ferry and you are in a n area comparable to the Bay of Islands, the island is small with great beaches and picnic facilities so a perfect day trip destination, they also have overnight accommodation but we didn’t stay there, will definitely go again
