What makes it 69% Kids-Friendly: Children can join Sunday Cathedral Kids, Mainly Music and splash by the courtyard fountain, yet the reverent setting, breakable art and lack of playground restrict noisy or extended playtime.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Gives time for kids to join programmes, explore gallery and fountain without rushing.
Cathedral Kids programme:
Weekly Sunday 10 am session with games and stories for children.
Tip: Arrive by 9:50 am to register; children rejoin parents for communion.
Mountain Fountain play:
Low water jets in the courtyard for kids to splash around.

John Wilson Gallery visit:
Free rotating art exhibitions under the nave.

Unfortunately, it was closed to the public as music rehearsals were taking place. I was gutted as the place looks stunning from what we could see and we leave Auckland in the morning so can't try again.

This is 2nd time attending fever candlelight music event and it didn’t disappoint! Highly recommended! Great experience both times - beautiful venue setting too in the new church

We went to Holy Trinity Cathedral last night for a Candlelight Concert featuring Hans Zimmer music . It was a truly beautiful experience, the venue, the candlelight, the beautiful music made an unforgettable experience.
In summer, bring hats and sunscreen for courtyard play; in winter visit midday to see stained glass glow from sunlight.
