Positives:

  • Solo-friendly layout: Wide, paved paths and clear signage make it easy to navigate without a group.
  • Plenty of seating: Benches near pavilions let you rest and people-watch between garden walks.

Challenges:

  • Weekend crowds: Visitor numbers peak on weekends; expect longer waits for photo spots and the windmill.
  • Limited shade: Gardens have few shaded areas; bring sun protection on sunny days.

Visiting Keukenhof on a busy May weekend confirmed why it’s world-famous. Despite being extremely crowded—easily the busiest garden I’ve ever seen—the place still felt charming and well worth the visit. Photography was the biggest challenge. With tourists everywhere, getting clear shots required patience, as almost every scenic spot had people waiting. If you’re visiting during peak season, be pre...

Incredible flower exhibition focused on countless tulip breeds that you have never seen before! MANY people are there during the afternoon so COME AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE! It was so beautiful nevertheless and mesmerizing, with literally just flower fields full of new and interesting breeds. You can buy Tulip bulbs of some of the ones you see in the gardens. Entry price is a bit high for the fact that...

My weekend trip to Keukenhof, even though it was already around May and well into the season, proved that the garden's legendary status is entirely justified. The experience was undeniably busy perhaps the most crowded garden I've ever visited yet, despite the overwhelming number of people, the atmosphere remained incredibly charming. Let's address the central challenge first: the photography. If...
