Positives:

  • Free entry: Walk the entire jetty without any ticket cost.
  • Cultural insight: Children see how families live in 19th-century stilt houses.
  • Local snacks on site: Buy drinks and ice cream steps from the walkway.

Challenges:

  • Uneven walkways: Wooden planks can be narrow and have gaps; watch small children closely.
  • No baby-changing stations: Bring your own changing mat; restrooms at the entrance have no changing tables.
  • Boat ride group size: Official boat tours need at least 13 people; confirm availability before planning.

Came at the evening and it was nice, you could also watch sunset from here. You need to walk pass through some floating houses with a quite narrow path and at the end of the pathway you will arrived at the jetty. Such a nice view for a pictures! And i think it w...

Fun spot to watch the sunset and see the water! It’s a classic part of George Town and it’s fun to go at least once to experience the culture and see the homes above the water. There’s plenty of little shops and food spots to enjoy as well.

It was nice to see. Some shops and restaurants around. You can see it in other parts of Asia. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Georgetown. Sweden walking distance from all the auction.

Chew Jetty is a unique and charming place that shows the traditional lifestyle of George Town. Walking on the wooden jetty over the water is a special experience, with beautiful views of the sea and old-style houses. The area is lively, friendly, and great for photography, especially during sunset. Small shops and local food stalls add to the experience. A must-visit cultural spot in Penang.
