Hotel Monterey Hanzomon (couple trip)

We've stayed here twice and it's a pleasant hotel. I did find upon our most recent visit, the stay was slightly less comfortable. The stiff bed caused me back pain and the bedside light continually flickered. The space was tight and we struggled to organise our suitcases. The biggest issue is the room size. It’s fine for one person with a small bag, but anything more makes the room feel smaller than a shoebox. The staff are friendly, but they could be better trained. The rooms are outdated and the mattress wasn’t great. There’s no safe in the room, the air-con doesn’t work well, and although the bathroom was clean, there was quite a lot of dust elsewhere. Location is nice and quiet, very accesible. A really good place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. Entrance to subway is right in front of the hotel. Convenience stores, cafe, and grocery markets are just 1-2 minutes walk from the hotel. Service: Staff are approachable and helpful. What can I say for this hotel. It exceeded our expectations! 1. Fast check in/out 2. Extremely clean rooms, and attention to detail. Rooms are a bit small in size, but within the Japanese standards. Every single day, (we stayed for 5 nights in total), our room was tidied up, clean towels were provided. 3. Excellent location, lovely staff, small room, but has everything you need. Shops and restaurants literally on the doorstep, Hanzomon metro across the road... Which is not to big a station so a good starter station for newbies to Tokyo. Only negative there is no real seating area downstairs, two worn out small sofas with 11 floors of guests.
