Kids can climb playground frames, rent small bikes, and join free disaster-prep festivals, while broad lawns allow frisbee; only ball-game bans and limited shade on hot days lower the score slightly.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Allows time for playground fun, bike rides, and a picnic without rushing.
Children’s Playground:
Swings, slides, and climbing frames near Harajuku Gate.
Tip: Visit in the morning to avoid midday sun and crowds.
Open Lawn Games:

Tip: Bring soft frisbees or beanbags; official ball games like soccer are prohibited.
Scooter & Bike Paths:
Smooth paved loops ideal for scooters and balance bikes.
Tip: Bring helmets or rent child-size bikes at the southeast Cycle Center (¥100/hr).
Sunday Street Performances:
Local dancers, musicians, and magicians near Harajuku Gate on weekends.
Tip: Arrive around 11:00 to catch the best shows; bring small change for performer tips.

Wonderful place, great for a walk, jog, picnics or just to relax. Peaceful and quiet a 15 minute walk from the Shibuya crossing.

A nice park to relax in or go for a jog. Most of the park is tree lined paths and bench areas though it has a few extra sections. There is a beautiful butterfly garden on the south side that I'd recommend. A herb / rose garden. A dog park. And a lake for viewing birds... Though they were hiding during our visit.

This park does not have a lot to offer but this is one good place to spend some time off, peaceful "me time" and have picnics with your loved ones. This is just a 5 minute walk from the Meiji Shrine. By the time I visited, Roses are in bloom making the park more interesting to visit.

Yoyogi Park is a beautiful, spacious park perfect for a relaxing walk or picnic. Even though we visited on a slightly rainy day, we still had a great time. Plenty of greenery and open space for the kids to enjoy—a peaceful break from the busy city.
Nelio Hawa
Beautiful park, but very crowded. Yoyogi Park in Tokyo is a lovely green space in the middle of the city—perfect for a walk or a short break from the hustle and bustle. Unfortunately, it was extremely crowded with tourists during my visit, making it hard to find a quiet spot or take photos without lots of people in the background. If you’re looking for a more peaceful experience, it might be best...
