How Kids-Friendly is Tokyo Tower?

Children can peer through glass floors, collect stamps, eat in the food court, and play VR at RED° Tokyo, yet elevator queues and extra fees for top deck may test young patience and budgets.

Considerations for visiting Tokyo Tower (with kids)

Positives:

  • Family Facilities: Free stroller rental and nursing room on 3F make it easy with young children.
  • Free Admission Areas: FootTown shopping and exhibitions are free and give kids a break from heights.

Challenges:

  • Stroller Access: The outdoor stairs are too steep for strollers; plan to use elevators.
  • Peak-Time Crowds: Long lines can form at the elevator in late afternoon; expect wait times.

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: A family can enjoy both observation decks and FootTown attractions without rushing.

Tokyo Tower by Night — Simply Magical! I visited Tokyo Tower in the evening around 8:30pm, and the night view of the city was absolutely breathtaking. Seeing Tokyo illuminated from above — with endless lights stretching in every direction — was a moment I’ll never forget. The atmosphere at night is calm and romantic, and the tower itself looks stunning all lit up. The observation deck offers inc...

Iconic landmark of Tokyo offering an absolutely stunning 360° view of the city and life breathing within. We arrived early in the evening and stayed late to see the lights of the tower turn on and enjoy the breathtaking sights of Tokyo in the dark. You can buy tickets on the premises for the main deck (regular price) and the top deck (extra price). The elevator ride and its waiting line to the ma...

Tokyo Tower is a must-visit if you're in the city. It’s 333 meters tall and gives amazing views of Tokyo. The main observation deck is great, but the top deck tour is worth it if you want the full experience. The tower lights up beautifully at night and feels like a mix of old-school charm and modern vibes. It’s easy to reach, has cafes and souvenir shops, and the nearby Zojoji Temple makes the ar...

We didn’t go to the top, but just being around Tokyo Tower was an amazing experience! The tower looks stunning up close, especially in the evening when it lights up. The area around it has a nice vibe, with great spots to take photos and enjoy the view. A must-see if you’re in Tokyo! 🇯🇵📸

It was a beautiful view from the levels which are inside at the top. Each level has a fun designs for example the top deck had a whole bunch of mirrors all around it. The elevators for getting up and down the tower were pretty small, each can hold about 6 people comfortably with everyone spaced out but they cram a lot of people in the so it gets hard to stand comfortably. My family and I took the ...
