How Baby-Friendly is Tokyo Cruise Asakusa Pier?

Stroller ramps, flat decks, and free infant fares support visits, yet only one boat has a diaper table and no pier nursing room, so parents must schedule feeds and changes elsewhere.

Considerations for visiting Tokyo Cruise Asakusa Pier (with baby)

Positives:

  • Barrier-free access: Ramps and elevators make boarding and disembarking easy with a stroller.
  • Scenic glass-roof boats: Glass-covered cabins offer 360° river views while your baby sits safely inside.

Challenges:

  • Limited on-board baby stations: Only Hotaluna has a diaper-changing table, while other vessels lack this facility.
  • No nursing rooms at the pier: Pier lacks private nursing rooms; use nearby centers for feeding breaks.

Recommended visit duration: 2-3 hours

Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: About 2–3 hours lets your family enjoy a short cruise and a riverside stroll without tiring your baby.

Went for the bridges tours, which were 45 minutes long. We did not purchase the tickets online, as when we went there weren't a big crowd. The captain was narrating/explaining the different bridges, but it was all in Japanese, so we weren't able to understand anything. Still a nice view of the different bridges. The buildings at the side of the rivers were alright, nothing too special. There are o...

It’s not open for 24 hours. The pier will be opened close to the first board time. The toilet located on the lowest floor facing outside, so it’s basically outside the building. You can buy the ticket online or walk in, but most of the tickets are sold online, anyway they will prioritize visitor with online ticket to enter the cruise first. If you’re with baby stroller, you need to fold the stroll...

I did this cruise on the 30th Nov 2024 at 3.30pm from Asakusa pier. Ticket bought from the cruise counter in the morning. The tour took almost an hour along Sumida river. Seeing the panoramic view of Tokyo city skylines was an amazing experience. The sunset rays make the tour even more captivating as we approach Odaiba. It's wise to dress appropriately because the winds on the open deck of the cru...

I took the water bus from Hinode Pier to Asakusa and back. On my trip from Hinode Pier there was hardly anyone on board and we were on an older boat which was wonderful as there was full open air viewing available. My return trip was busier but just as spectacular. There are some very futuristic looking boats running the route. I thoroughly recommend a trip on the river.
