Positives:

  • Hands-On Fun: Kids shape the art by moving through water and light areas, keeping them engaged.
  • Child-Friendly Amenities: Free lockers, baby-care room and towel rentals make visits easier with young children.

Challenges:

  • Dark Spaces: Some rooms are dim and may confuse younger kids; keep them close and use the exit signs.
  • No Strollers Inside: Strollers must be left in the locked area outside; use a baby carrier or park strollers securely.

What is TeamLab Planets TOKYO?

  • A contemporary art museum created by the collective teamLab, devoted to large-scale digital-media installations
  • Composed of four expansive artwork galleries and two garden environments that integrate water, light and sound into dynamic art forms
  • Designed to dissolve boundaries between art, natural elements and the human body through water-based projections and responsive digital technology

What is so special about TeamLab Planets TOKYO for with kids?

  1. Families can wade barefoot through interactive water art.
  2. Children see digital koi fish react underfoot and turn into flowers.
  3. Multiple free amenities (lockers, towels, baby-care room) ease logistics.
  4. Seasonal orchid displays offer new visuals on repeat visits.
  5. Safe water depths and staff guidance suit kids ages 3+.

Recommended visit duration: 1-2 hours

Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with kids: Gives a family time to explore all water and garden exhibits without rushing and to change clothes between rooms.

So freaking cool. My first thought is "I'm not on enough drugs to be here." I called this meow wolf with more focus on individualized experiences. Absolutely book tickets well in advance. It's hard to get tickets and at least a 1-2 hr adventure great for kids. I don't think I can fully describe the rooms you experience. It's a fun house of sensory overload and intricate art interactions. I'm sure ...

I can’t even describe this place but it was really, really amazing. We had so much fun walking through the interactive rooms. Although we had a timed ticket, we arrived early and did have to wait in line outside so be prepared for a couple minutes in the elements. There were plenty of interactive activities and safe lockers to store your bags in during the experience. I highly recommend wearing ac...

This was a truly unique and unforgettable experience! For starters, make sure to reserve tickets in advance, as this is a popular destination and generally sells out before the day of. Secondly, when you come here, make sure to wear shorts because there are sections that have you walking through water above your ankles but below your knees. There are free lockers to use that way you can have a han...

A pleasant evening of interactive art. Would recommend budgeting at least two hours if you want to experience all of the exhibits. The water section was very pretty but don't forget to wear shorts as many of the exhibits involve wading through water. The forest section involves a lot of physical activity which made it very engaging. The garden section is just the one room with a single exhibit....

I had a lot of fun at this museum - it was totally different from anything else I've experienced. I'll admit the moss room was kind of lame and a lot of the interactive stuff felt like it was geared towards children, but the overall awe and wonder of some of the rooms, and the adventure of going through it and experiencing it with my wife, were enough to make me give this 5 stars. It was a fun tim...
