Positives:

  • Free entry: No admission fee makes spontaneous visits easy.
  • Romantic photo spots: Historic gates and willow-lined moats offer great backdrops.
  • Flat paths: Wide, level walkways suit leisurely strolls hand in hand.

Challenges:

  • Spring crowds: Cherry blossom season brings long lines for boats and photos.
  • Limited resthouse hours: Nanko Café closes early; plan lunch between 11:00–14:00.
  • Gravel paths: Walking on gravel can be noisy; hard-soled shoes help.

As any tourist or visitor to the area might think that taking time out of their trip to see this castle should be high on the list. I would like to recommend you walk around the outside of the grounds and give that a second thought. This is a very overrated experience when visiting Tokyo. Not only do you have to be early to get a ticket for a time slot for viewing the grounds, you can also see som...

A very beautiful park. Incredibly cozy when the cherry blossom season is almost over and there are not many tourists. Peace and quiet in every corner. Unusually many people jogging in the morning. One of the places that you simply must visit in Tokyo for relaxation. A practical recommendation - avoid the close presence of Chinese tourist groups. In my case, I had to move to a quieter place in the ...

Overall a nice garden, worth having a walk there. The front area looking at the emperor’s house is a bit empty but offers a nice contrast between the numerous pines and skyscrapers. The inside of the garden itself is beautifully maintained, with pretty trees, flowers and even some toads!

I'm so glad I found this peaceful spot. It's truly amazing how much calmer I feel surrounded by nature 🌳. This is the perfect place to just breathe and let go of all the stress. I really needed this mental break to clear my head and focus on what's important. Sometimes, all you need is a quiet moment like this 🧘‍♂️. #peace #calm #nature
