Stroller-friendly lakeside path and Visitor Center with nursing room and diaper table suit infants; most boats, kayaks and baths forbid babies, and the 1-hour bus ride means bringing all supplies.
Why 2-3 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Gives time for exhibits, a relaxed lakeside stroll, and a sunset view with baby breaks.
Lake Shikotsu Visitor Center:
Explore free exhibits on the lake’s volcanic origin and fish aquarium.
Tip: Use the nursing room and diaper-changing table before heading outdoors.
Stroll Shikotsuko Onsen lakeshore:
Walk on flat, paved paths linking hotels, cafés, and the visitor center.
Tip: Stop at lakeside benches for baby breaks and views of clear water.
Sunset on east bank promenade:
Watch golden light reflect on the crater lake from a stroller-friendly viewpoint.
Tip: Arrive 30 minutes before sunset and bring a light blanket for comfort.

I've been here multiple times and it's always beautiful. You can walk, use the sightseeing boat, swanboats, paddle boats etc. They all cost between 1000-2000 yen per 30mins to 1 hour. Perfect place to rest with family or even alone. Though make sure to bring CASH!! All the restaurant use cash expect for 1 or 2 store. There's an ATM on the map nearby but closes at 12pm. Also all the shops closes b...

This place was clod with strong gust of wind… it gives a vibe of winter wonderland. The shop closes early at 4pm so we weren’t able to have a snack. It was too bad that we missed the last day of ice festival, just 1 day before as well. Despite all of those, still nice to be here… this place is mesmerizing 🥰

Got to fulfil my Game of Thrones dreams (sort of!) here by posing next to a miniature ice wall about 3 metres high. A good festival alternative in case you missed the Sapporo Snow Festival a week earlier.

The combination of sunset and winter makes Lake Shikotsu truly breathtaking. The stunning views and serene atmosphere create a magical experience. Plus, there's an ice festival by the lake, offering beautiful ice sculptures and a unique winter charm for ¥1,000 per adult.
