Babies are allowed, but rough stone paths rattle strollers, only one multipurpose toilet might hold a changer, and no nursing or diaper room means extra gear and planning are needed.
Why 1-2 hours visit duration is ideal for with baby: Stone paths and narrow bridges slow stroller access; 1–2 hours allows a relaxed pace with a baby.
Koi Pond Watching:
Spot colorful koi and turtles near the wooden bridges.
Tip: Use a baby carrier to lean over railings for a closer view.
Stroll Across Huxian Bridge:
Cross the arched stone bridge over Mingfeng Stream.
Tip: Hold your baby securely; the bridge is narrow and uneven.
Tea at Zuiryutei Pavilion:
Enjoy matcha and traditional sweets overlooking Ryusen Pond.
Tip: Arrive early for a corner seat with space for your carrier.
Iris Garden Viewing:
Walk through the Iris Garden near the Black Gate in late May.
Tip: Bring a sun hat and lightweight cover; blooms peak early June.

Tokugawaen Garden is very peaceful and serene. A perfect escape from the city with beautiful ponds, streams, and seasonal flowers. Well-maintained and calming—highly recommended for a relaxing stroll. I visit there on summer. Will also go back in Autumn and Spring to see different colors!

We were lucky today to find the cherry trees in Peak. Blossom we didn’t expect also feeding the beautiful large Koi fish can be fun if you stick your finger in the mouth. They don’t have teeth - and a couple of nice waterfalls.

Tokugawa Park is a lovely, quaint spot to enjoy both historical landmarks and beautiful views. During our visit, there was a 200 yen fee to access just the lake area, with additional fees depending on which parts of the park you'd like to explore. The weather was pleasant and calm, and we even witnessed a beautiful Japanese wedding taking place at a house by the lake, which appeared to be a recept...

Hands down one of the most beautiful place I've ever visited in my life. At first, I wasn't sure whether I should visit or not since it's winter time, but I didn't regret my choice to go here. I bought a combined ticket with the Tokugawa Art Museum. If you only want to go to the garden, it's quite cheap and only cost you 300 yen. This is a must-visit place if you go to Nagoya.
