The Royal Park Canvas Kyoto Nijo (couple trip)

Hotel is beautiful and a very reasonable price. The service was great until checkout, when the staff was quite unfriendly and standoffish. The beds left our backs hurting the whole time, but we are used to softer mattresses. I think 4/5 is a very accurate review as we would stay here again.

After staying at the Kobe branch, the service here was lacking severely. There’s a gentleman at the front desk who doesn’t really understand English and we went back and forth with him at check in as he assumed we were with another group of people even though we were all trying to explain we were seperate groups. Really nice hotel to stay in Kyoto. No complaints, seemed very new, comfortable beds, perfectly clean bathroom, great view, friendly staff. Location is perfect, right outside the train station with plenty of restaurants near by. Main areas are a short cheap trip by bus.

Rooms are small but functional. The hotel is clean and modern, and the location is great — close to train, metro, and bus stops.
