The trail to the top of the mountain is pleasantly cool and shaded, making the climb enjoyable despite the many small steps—it’s a decent workout! The scenery along the way is beautiful, and once at the summit, we saw plenty of monkeys. They’re clearly used to visitors and seem completely relaxed around people. The baby monkeys, in particular, are absolutely adorable!

If you’re looking for something fun and unique to do while in Kyoto, this is definitely it! It’s about a 20 - 30 minute uphill walk to get to the top of the mountain where the monkey park is, so make sure to wear good shoes.
